VISITORS
Interested in stepping into a venue but unsure how to behave and what to do? Check out these guidelines!

Most venues have widely varying rules of decorum, and making mistakes sometimes is unavoidable. However, being polite and understanding makes for pleasant experiences for all.
What to do
-
Chat in /say, roleplay in /tell or /party
Exact rules differ between venues, but generally communication is essential to any experience.
-
Be polite
Consideration for both other visitors and staff goes a long way, so be nice!
-
Switch off emote log
Save clutter from everyone's chat logs, you can do so via typing "/emotelog off".
-
Hide weapons and minions
Most venues prefer not to have these, as minions take up rendering space while weapons are sharp and dangerous.
-
Ask for help
We are here to have fun! If you require assistance or someone is harassing you, please alert the staff for help.
What to avoid
-
/yell or /shout
These are often reserved for the staff.
-
Looking to Meld or Looking for Party
These statuses are often reserved for staff.
-
Large mounts
They obstruct the view of other players.
-
Public NSFW behaviour
Most venues are family friendly, so please refrain from gestures or messages that are suggestive or explicit. -
Unsolicited performance
Unless you're asked to perform in a venue, do not do so.
-
Exploring cordoned areas
Please do not jump or glitch past blocked areas to explore.
-
Spam
Do not spam emotes, macros or messages repeatedly.

Most venues have widely varying rules of decorum, and making mistakes sometimes is unavoidable. However, being polite and understanding makes for pleasant experiences for all.
What to do
-
Pick a theme
This helps in decoration, rule setting and menu decisions.
-
Decide on a purpose
While it might sound nice to have one of everything, too many services or options make it difficult to prep for! Keep it simple, or perhaps even collaborate with other venues.
-
Set clear-cut rules
Both visitors and staff should have an easy guide on what they should and should not do. For example, refer to the visitor's guidelines for a rough expectation on venue rules in Elemental.
-
Calculate costs
Remember that time is money. Hiring staff cuts down on your workload, but remember to give them appropriate salary for their efforts!
-
Get inspiration
Visit other venues to get a feel for what they do and how they do it, ask questions even! Some would be happy to give tips on how to run your establishment.
-
Plan your décor
Showcase your imagination with how you plan the layout of your venue! Alternatively, get in touch with housing decorators to curate a working exterior/interior for you.
-
Create a menu
Most venues such as cafes, clubs and taverns often have a menu of food and beverage. These form the basis of your earnings! Other places sell services such as companionship, bard performance requests, roleplay and more.
-
Create a website
Neat organisation of your rules, services and opening hours on a website is key to selling your venue. Provide ample decoration, glitz and glamour to make yours stand out! This makes it easy for visitors to check on updates or refer to rules and pricing.
-
Get a listing on this site!
We'd love to have your venue on our website - new, old, established or rookie venues are all welcome! However, do request to archive your listing if you decide to close shop or take a hiatus.
-
Run soft openings and events
Soft openings are useful to get a feel of what needs to be changed. In other words, do a test run before a proper opening! Events are easily promotable and draw in visitors.
